Tahlia Riley

Tahlia Riley (b. 1992, Western Australia) is a mixed European and Aboriginal artist based on Awabakal Country, NSW. Working primarily with ceramics, she creates works that honour memory, oral histories, and the enduring relationships between people, Country, and culture.
Her practice is shaped by a deep commitment to community and by the cultural knowledge carried quietly through family and oral histories.
Drawing on oral histories and stories shaped by colonisation and the legacies of the Stolen Generations, Riley's work seeks to bring visibility to voices and histories that have too often been overlooked or left unspoken. Through ritual, storytelling, and the slow, tactile nature of clay, she creates spaces for healing, connection, and hope, inviting audiences to reflect on resilience and the enduring strength of all First Nations knowledge.
Riley holds a Diploma of Ceramics and has been a finalist in the Wynne Prize (2026), Burwood Prize (2026), Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize (2024, 2025), and MAC Yapang Art Prize (2025).
